This handmade wooden model ship of the HMS Serapis offers intricate details. It measures 42L x 34″H, making it a 1:40 scale model. The artist’s name and year, “Branesky 1980,” appears on the back of the nameboard. The actual ship, named for the Greco-Egyptian god Serapis, launched in 1779. The disconnected nameboard reads, “SERAPIS | 18th Century English | Man of War”. The model’s condition is good overall, but it needs some small repairs. For instance, the nameboard is disconnected from the base, and loose strings and a disconnected lifeboat require fixing.

Meticulous Craftsmanship

The model ship displays meticulous craftsmanship. Intricate details adorn its hull and cannons. You can appreciate the fine work put into each part. The artist’s signature provides a personal touch. Ultimately, this model represents a piece of history. It brings the 18th-century ship to life.

Historical ‘Man of War’

The HMS Serapis, named for the Greco-Egyptian god Serapis, was a British warship; consequently, it played a significant role in history. This model captures its majestic appearance, and it serves as a beautiful tribute to the original vessel. The disconnected nameboard, which reads, “SERAPIS | 18th Century English | Man of War,” references Serapis and adds to its vintage character. This is an impressive piece for any collector.

Condition and Repairs

The model is in good overall condition, but it does need some minor repairs. For example, the nameboard needs reattaching to the base. Likewise, some strings are loose and require fixing. One of the lifeboats is also disconnected. These small repairs will restore its full glory, presenting a rewarding project for a hobbyist.
