If you had a nickel for every time you heard the phrase, “We can’t do it without you,” you’d be, well, at least $50 richer.
But it’s true. Without your help, Father Joe’s Villages literally couldn’t do it without you.
Do what, you ask?
Achieve our mission to prevent and ultimately end homelessness in San Diego.
It’s an ambitious goal, to be sure. As of January 2023, there were at least 10,264 people in the city and county experiencing homelessness, with more than 5,100 of them unsheltered and nearly the same number in emergency shelters or transitional housing.
Given those estimates are 22% higher than last year’s figures, a significant number of our neighbors could be homeless tomorrow.
Father Joe’s Villages helps thousands of them each year by providing short- and long-term housing, food, healthcare, employment services, vocational training, and many other solutions. But it takes money—a lot of it—to do what we do.
“You can’t do a blessed thing without money,” said Father Joe Carroll, the late president emeritus of Father Joe’s Villages. “You can’t help people. You can’t build things. You can’t make things happen without it.”
To clarify, that’s what he said more than three decades ago, and nothing has changed since then.
Of course, Father Joe’s Villages is always happy to accept your monetary donations , but there are other ways you can support us in our mission.
