Fernandez Reyes is a retired health care worker, a Catholic sister and a member of Eudist Servants of the Eleventh Hour. She lives in Mission Valley.

My heart is filled with joy every time I serve at Father Joe’s in remembrance of Father Joe and his special friend, the prison angel, Mary Clarke Brenner, better known as Mother Antonia. She was the nun who lived in the Tijuana prison and founded the Eudist Servants of the Eleventh Hour, the religious association where I belong. Both their lives serve as inspiration for many, myself included.

Four years ago, I joined the Eudist Servants after retirement from the field of health care in San Diego, the city where I’ve lived most of my life. For the past 35 years, in working with diverse communities, I found myself more and more committed to my personal mission statement: I am dedicated to the realization of human potential through service. And now, as a sister in a religious order, Eudist Servants of the Eleventh Hour, my passion to serve at Father Joe’s springs from a deep commitment to serve others as my brothers and sisters in Christ.
