Creed Award

The newly renamed Ruth Bruland CREED Award pays tribute to a remarkable individual whose legacy continues to inspire us. For over two decades, Ruth Bruland exemplified Compassion, Respect, Empathy, Empowerment, and Dignity within our community.

Last week, we celebrated three exceptional individuals who were recognized for their unwavering dedication to bringing hope and relief to those in need. This year, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Lexi Jimenez (Development Specialist), Michael Cruz (Supervisor of Case Management), and Phoenix Mendiola (Outreach Worker). The event highlighted their extraordinary achievements and the relentless passion they invest in their work every day. Recognition from peers—those who witness both struggles and triumphs—represents the most genuine form of acknowledgment.

“Congratulations to Lexi, Michael, and Phoenix for receiving Father Joe’s Villages’ most prestigious honor, the 2024 Ruth Bruland CREED Award. Their dedication is inspiring, and their impact is truly profound.” —Deacon Jim Vargas, President & CEO

Creed Awards - Lexi Gimenez

Lexi Jimenez

“Lexi embodies compassion through her deep concern for the individuals we serve and her proactive approach to improving their experiences. Although our department is not on the front lines, she designed a client interaction guide specifically for our home office’s front desk, ensuring that anyone seeking services comes to the home office and is met with kindness, understanding, and a genuine desire to help.”

Creed Award - Michael

Micheal Cruz

“Michael’s empathy is one of his most vital attributes. He has a unique ability to understand and be sensitive to the feelings and experiences of others without judgment. Whether a team member faces a challenge or a client struggles, Michael approaches every situation with a deep understanding and compassion. His empathetic nature allows him to connect with people personally, making them feel supported and understood.”

Creed Awards - Phoenix

Phoenix Mendiola

“During Phoenix’s time at Father Joe’s Villages, they have empowered many clients to not give up despite their living situation, health conditions, substance use issues, mental health disorders, or any other adversity they may be going through. Phoenix believes that everyone deserves chances, even if they have burnt bridges, as one of those chances may be the one that catapults someone to achieve their goals.”
