Homeless organization offers one night with a meal, mat for homeless in San Diego

 

WHAT:

Father Joe’s Villages’ St. Vincent de Paul Village will open its doors tonight to temporarily expand services to San Diego’s homeless during the colder, wet weather. The nonprofit will offer a meal and an overnight stay to help more homeless neighbors in San Diego have a warm, dry space to sleep for the evening.

 

WHEN: The temporary overnight shelter will be open tonight. Check in begins at 4 p.m. for the limited space. Individuals will exit by 5 a.m. tomorrow morning.

 

WHERE: St. Vincent de Paul Village, 1501 Imperial Avenue, San Diego

WHY:

When San Diego anticipates at least 40 percent chance of rain and evening temperatures below 50 degrees, Father Joe’s Villages opens St. Vincent de Paul Village for an inclement weather response. The organization temporarily expands its overnight services to support more of San Diego’s more than 8,700 homeless men, women and families. San Diego has the fourth largest population of homeless in the U.S. and the third largest for homeless veterans.
