Each day our drivers are juggling multiple pick-ups of varying sizes at many locations, impacting their daily schedule. We value your time, so on your scheduled day we will call you a half an hour before your pick-up allowing you time to prepare.

ITEMS WE ACCEPT

Please read our thorough lists of what donations we can accept and what we can’t. We truly value your donations but there are things that we are not able to accept because they are broken, worn, etc. and due to federal and states regulations and safety concerns.

PACKAGE ITEMS

What happens after I submit the pick-up request form?

One of Father Joe’s Villages friendly, trained operators will call to schedule a mutually convenient time to pick up your donation.

What days and times do you pick up donations?

The day and time of your donation pick-up depends on the route in your area. We accept donations from all over San Diego and visit each neighborhood based on demand.

We schedule pick-ups between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Unfortunately, we cannot schedule a specific pick-up time.

Our driver can call you 30 minutes ahead of time to let you know we are on our way or you can leave the donations out and we will pick them up. If you’d like the driver to call ahead, please let the operator know when they call.

When our operator calls you to schedule a time to pick-up your donations, they will work with you to find a date that is convenient for you.

Do you offer free pick-up services?

Yes, our donation pick-up services are free. If you are able, we are happy to accept cash donations to cover the cost of gas. Our drivers carry donation envelopes.

Will you let me know when you are on your way?

We will schedule to pick up your donations on a specific day but we are unable to provide you with the exact time that we will be there. Each day our drivers are juggling multiple pick-ups of varying sizes at many locations. Each of these things impact their daily schedule. We value your time and we know it is difficult to wait around for our drivers, so on your scheduled day we will call you a half an hour before your pick-up allowing you time to prepare.

When scheduling your donation pick-up, please specify that you would like the driver to call ahead.

Do I have to be home when the driver arrives?

You do not have to be at home during pick-up. You may leave your donations outside.

Why Can’t I Donate Certain Items?

Old, Broken & Unusable Items

Unfortunately, whenever we receive an item that cannot be sold in our stores or easily recycled, we have to pay for disposal. This means that less funds go towards helping our neighbors in need.

Please only donate items that are in gently-used, new condition or “usable”. We cannot accept furniture or items that are broken, torn or severely damaged. Unusable items are any items that are stained, broken, torn, cracked, peeling, worn, etc. We do not accept anything that needs to be repaired or refinished, as we do not have the means to fix them for resale.

Items Restricted for Resale

Other items, such as cribs, toilets, chemicals, mattresses and more, are restricted for resale by California state law and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Move Items to Entry Level

We value the health and safety of our staff. To protect the wellbeing of our truck drivers and store employees, our policy is that we cannot accept anything that cannot be carried safely by two people. This means we are unable to accept big items like beds, pianos, pool tables, conference tables, etc. Additionally, for their safety, drivers cannot move furniture items up or down stairs once they enter the residence. All items must be on the entry level of the residence for pickup.

Where Can I Dispose of the Items You Do Not Accept?

Mattresses/Box Springs
Weapons and Ammunition
Explosives & Fireworks
