St Vincent de Paul

“Lord, help me to make time today to serve You in those who are most in need of encouragement or assistance.” – St. Vincent de Paul

Dear Friend,

As we approach September 27th, the Feast Day of our Patron Saint, St. Vincent de Paul, I want to take a moment to thank you for your support and ask you to consider a gift of any amount to meet the growing need in our community.

On any given night, Father Joe’s Villages provides shelter for more than 2,000 people, while thousands more sleep in doorways, under bridges and in the canyons and riverbeds throughout San Diego.

We serve 3,000 meals every day, and yet we know that many more will go to bed hungry. We provide medical care for more than 500 patients experiencing homelessness each month but we know countless others remain sick and without care. We provided life-sustaining services to nearly 600 families last year and still, the number of homeless families continues to rise.

Undoubtedly, the need in San Diego is great.

That’s why, each year on September 27th, we renew our commitment to our Patron Saint and pledge our unwavering focus on ending homelessness one life at a time.

As St. Vincent de Paul reminds us:

“It is our duty to prefer the service of the poor to everything else and to offer such service as quickly as possible.”

Not only is it our duty, but it is also our calling. We know from decades of experience that, given the right resources, those struggling with homelessness have the potential to succeed.

We’ve seen lives transformed, hope renewed, dignity and empowerment restored. Dare I say, we’ve witnessed miracles.

Our work would not be possible without your generosity.

In honor of the Feast Day of St. Vincent de Paul, please help those who need it most by making a gift today.
