Holidays are a time for giving – give the gift of shelter, blankets, clothing, nutritious meals, medical care and more. Give hope to our neighbors in need.

9920As I walk through our Village, I am often struck by the concern expressed by those who come to us for help—concern not for themselves but for others.

Our St. Vincent de Paul Village resident Terrance Livingston, for example, worries a lot for our homeless neighbors who will have to face El Nino and cold months ahead on the streets.

“Heat, cold weather, rain, wind—it’s very hard out here,” said Terrance, who was homeless for three years after he and his wife became buried in medical bills from her cancer treatment.

Terrance and his wife, Pamela Cooks, live at our Village now. Livingston said he’s worried about those who aren’t so lucky.

“You’re going to be wet constantly,” he said. “There are a lot of people who are going to be sick, from either a cold, pneumonia—especially the elderly.”

Today, I write to you filled with the giving compassion of Terrance and Pamela. They hope many of these homeless neighbors can find refuge from the wet and cold, receive hot meals and, if they get sick, get help at our medical clinic.

During this season of giving, I ask you to be inspired by their compassion and act with a donation of hope for the thousands on the streets in need of help.

Your gift can give many of these neighbors a place to sleep, blankets, clothing, nutritious meals, medical care and more.

Your gift today can bring light, and for that we at Father Joe’s Villages are grateful.

Whether your faith brings us to honor the one-day oil candle that burned for eight days or the power of a baby born in a manager who brought forgiveness to the world—let us all be reminded of the gift of light and hope.

Thank you for your kind donation.

Yours in God’s Service to Our Neighbors in Need,
