Blessings on Ash Wednesday
“Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return.”
Today, these are the prayerful words many people will hear as ashes are placed on their forehead to observe Ash Wednesday.
Each year, these words remind us of our own mortal life here on earth and daily encourages us each to humility, sacrifice and love.
If today you embark on a journey of sacrifice, please remember to keep our neighbors in mind by holding them at the center of your charity and giving. The image of the over 9,100 children, women, and men struggling with poverty and homelessness in San Diego can set us all free from apathy and self-absorption if we only commit to keeping their suffering close to our hearts.
Additionally, share your intentions here and we will place them on our Altar in our Chapel, so they can be offered in prayer at all of our Masses during these days of Lent.
I wish you God’s grace and blessings during this holy season.
Yours in God’s Service to our Neighbors in Need,
